While the Muslim men are commanded not to gaze at non-related women, women are supposed to guard their modesty by not displaying their physical beauty in public. Islamic clothing, in addition to exhibiting obedience to this command, is a means of showing respect to Allah.

The thoub is regarded as the classic Muslim men's wear, and the abayat and niqab, the Muslim women's dress code. Islamic clothing (especially women's wear) has taken on a modern panache, and no longer remains restrictive as was the case previously. With the large number of online boutiques and shops, Muslim women can now enjoy a plethora of choices and styles of clothing based on their notion of privacy and diffidence. This article will talk about some attractive and fashionable Muslim women's clothing that is available in the online market.
I was particularly impressed by the stunning outfits showcased at the Islamic Fashion Festival 2009, which took place in Jakarta.

Muslim women often wear designer labels underneath their outer garments and increasingly they want to wear fashionable outerwear too. Devout need not mean drab. Fashion designers are waking up to this need for trendy Muslim clothing, and specialised stores, websites and fashion shows are springing up across the UK.

European fashion labels are beginning to embrace Muslim fashion. In June 2009 at The Saks Fifth Avenue Riyadh and Jeddah fashion show held at the George V hotel in Paris, top European fashion labels including John Galliano and Blumarine showcased models wearing couture abayas.

Designers have realised that many Muslim women are wearing designer brands, but that these garments are usually covered by a black abaya. This has led them to consider the idea of producing designer abayas, will this mark the beginning of a new fashion trend for both Muslim and non Muslim women?

The designers and retailers seem suddenly to have woken up to the fact that Muslim women are as interested in fashion as any other women, and whilst a cynic might put this down to the recognition of a very lucrative and as yet virtually uptapped market, a wider availability of fashionable Muslim clothes must surely be good for Muslim women everywhere.

It may be that Muslim women themselves, however well versed in the nuances and requirements of their religion, will be best equipped to introduce traditional garments to the world of high fashion.
The word in Arabic means curtain. A meta-physical definition of 'al-hijab' says that it is a veil which separates man from God. It is a veil that is worn over the head by a woman. It has been very popular in Islamic tradition since 1970s. However, each person has his or her own take on how the garment should be worn.

Muslim women are supposed to wear full body covering cloaks like the Abaya and the Jilbab, which supposedly will prevent them from harm. To complete this traditional wear they are also supposed to wear a hijab in front of any man who they could theoretically marry. Hence, it is not necessary for whom to wear these in front of their fathers, brothers, grandfathers, uncles, or children. It is a sign of Islamic modesty. Old women generally do not wear them as it is considered that they have crossed the age of marriage. Still they are not supposed to display their beauty.

Hamas, the ruler of the Gaza Strip, has encouraged women to wear hijabs. It is the first step towards implementing Islamic law in Gaza. Hence, we see that these are a very important part of the Islamic dress code. Each person has a different take on how far she should cover herself; some women cover their whole body including the face too.

In present times, hijabs for women are complying with the latest design trends. You can choose from the ones made from different material, like lycra, cotton and linen. They are available in vibrant colors and intricate designs. The two piece ones are very comfortable and are also very convenient to wear. The two piece ones are underlined with an additional section of fabric which prevents them from slipping from the head.

Traditional hijabs are either found in black and brown, but today you can easily find them in pink, lavender, orange, green and many more. You can also find them designed intricately with embellishments, floral prints, and shimmery metallic fabrics. They are available in various styles, like some are in shawl-style; others are available in different shapes, like rectangular or oblong. They are generally available in free sizes.

If you want a trendy hijab for yourself or to gift it to someone then you can visit East Essence to get one that suits your style. It is one place you can find all the latest designs in all kinds of eastern wear.
Might I add here that I highly recommend you get your Eid shopping out of the way ASAP because the prices all go very high the weekend before Eid. It's actually even better if you got you Eid shopping done before Ramadhaan. This year we've left our Eid shopping quite late because my dad's been in and out of hospital but we'll be going in the next week or so iA.

One thing I always look at when I buy Indian/Pakistani outfits is the dupatta, some dupatta's really put me off because I know that I wont know how to wrap it as a hijab. For those types of dupatta's I usually buy a plain scarf to wear on my head and just use the dupatta to drape across my chest (pinned to the shoulders) but sometimes it's just wayyy too hot to be wearing so many scarves (esp seeing as Eid is at the end of August). The outfit I buy for Eid will probs be the outfit I'll be wearing for my cousins wedding in September so I gotta make sure it's something nice enough (usually I wouldn't be that bothered with Eid clothes). Because many people (myself included) get put off a really stunning outfit because of the dupatta Sister Naaila Haq has produced some hijabi tips for different types of dupatta's and how to wrap them.

Sorry they're a bit small, to zoom into them press Ctrl +

The eyeshadow palette I wanted to review today is the Sleek Acid i-Divine palette. You do have to go over the colour a little bit but it's not bad for a drugstore company and it'll probs stand out more using a primer, which I didn't use for the pictures.

I think about 5 of the colours are shimmery (although not chalky glitter) the rest of them are matt.
£6 something for 12 colours works out to be less than £1 for each colour, bargain!

Here are some pictures of the palette and how I did it on my sisters eyes....

PLEASE DO NOT COPY THESE IMAGES WITHOUT PERMISSION!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Burkini means a combination of burqa and bikini. It is a type of swimsuit designed by Lebanese Austrialian designer Aheda Zanetti under the company name Ahiida. The suit covers the whole body except the face, hands and feet in accordance with Muslim views on modesty. It looks like a full-length wetsuit with a built-in hood, but is somewhat looser and made of swimsuit material. It is being described as the perfect Muslim/Islamic swimwear solution for Muslim women who want to swim but have reservations about "revealing" bathing suits.

The Bodykini is also designed to conform to Islamic values and is aimed at active Muslim women who can now emnjoy swimming in public areas or water sports. The bodykini is designed to enhance athletic performance and allows maximum movement while in or out of water. It also provides UV protection, from the sun's rays.

These are an updated version of full-body swim wear which conforms to Islam's conservative views on women's dress. They are increasingly stylish, intricate sequin designs with miniskirts that go over long pants. The polyester, nylon and lycra material allows for flexible movement in water and does not cling to the woman's body when she exits water.

The suits now being made are increasingly fashionable in moderate Muslim countries like Indonesia and Malaysia as well. They don't absorb water and are very light and thin, so they're safe and very comfortable. One of the top company producing Islamic bathing suits, Hasema, says he can't produce them quick enough to keep pace with demand. The company exports to Egypt, North America, England and Australia. For many Muslim women, these suits offer the only alternative to wearing regular clothes when swimming.

In Egypt swimsuits for Muslim women are better known as "Sharia swimsuit". They are part of a growing industry catering for religiously-observant women. It is no longer mainly the westernised elite that can afford such leisure activities as swimming. In such a conservative society, many women have until now either had to sit on one side or go into the water in their clothes. To them, the "Sharia swimsuit" offers one solution. It is a high-necked, swimming costume with sleeves and a small skirt, to be worn over long trousers.
Over the decades due to a strong influx of Muslims it has become a common sight on the streets of some western capitals. Jilbabs tend to be long robes which are used as an outer garment to cover the clothes which are worn in the privacy of the home with family or in all female gatherings.

Jilbabs although worn as over garments do not have to look unfashionable and out-dated in their style. In fact there has been a recent surge in trendy, fashionable and elegant Jilbabs designed for day to day wear and special occasions.

The styles include black jilbabs with a choice of different colour pinstripes or subtle colour jilbabs with detail pinstripe work on cuffs. These styles of jilbabs are ideal for making the right kind of impact on a job or even an interview.

Trendy jilbabs tend to be very bold colours like burgundy, lilac, shades of green, pink and teal with ruffles on the neckline and sleeves. If one prefers, other choice of designs are available with pleats on the front, side, on the bodice and bell shaped arms.

There is also the gypsy style jilbab which is very much prized for the look and feel of the fabric with frills on the sleeves and base hem. They can come with contemporary style patterns printed or warm colour patterns. Day to day jilbabs tend to be dark colour while the design could be quite chic with pleats on the base and flared sleeves perhaps with some light thread work or embroidery also.

Some of these new jilbab designs have got attractive styles making it less daunting to wear. When matched with the right colour hijab or other types of accessories like shoes or handbag it can create the right kind of right impression in the public.
So we've all know someone or have heard stories of Muslim girls being pressured to marry someone from back home to bring them into the country and stuff right? I'm sure you have. Well it's a really sad but quite prevalent in a lot of cultures.

Most Muslim parents know that forced marriages are not accepted in Islam so they go about getting their son/daughter to marry someone that they want in other ways such as emotional and psychological pressure. This year alone I've heard stories of girls that I personally know (and are younger than me) being pressured to marry cousins from back home, who are not very practicing. One of these pressurised marriages ended up resulting in a girl running away from home a week before her wedding. There are many similar stories of girls putting up with a not practicing Muslim guy who is not someone she wants to marry but gives into the pressure from her parents.

‘Aa’ishah reported that a girl came to her and said, “My father married me to his brother’s son in order to raise his social standing, and I did not want this marriage [I was forced into it].” ‘Aa’ishah said, “Sit here until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) comes. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came and she told him about the girl. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent for her father, then he gave the girl the choice of what to do. She said, “O Messenger of Allaah, I have accepted what my father did, but I wanted to prove something to other women.” (Reported by al-Nisaa’i, 3217).

It is not permissible for a woman to be made to marry someone she does not want. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A previously-married woman should not be married without being consulted, and a virgin should not be married without asking her permission.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, how is her permission given?” He said, “By her silence.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 6455).

SubhanAllah these hadeeth's shows that a woman has a say in who she marrys.

The pressure (although more uncommon) is also there for brothers aswell on this issue Ibn Muflih al-Hanbali (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

The parents have no right to force their son to marry someone he does not want. Shaykh Taqiy al-Deen (i.e., Ibn Taymiyah – may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Neither of the parents has the right to force their son to marry someone whom he does not want, and if he refuses then he is not sinning by disobeying them, because no one has the right to force him to eat food he finds off-putting when there is food that he wants to eat, and marriage is like that and more so. Food that one is forced to eat is unpleasant for a short while, but a forced marriage lasts for a long time, and it harms a person and he cannot leave it. End quote.

Emotional and psychological pressures come in the form of parents cursing their daughter for not agreeing to marry her cousin (true story, happened to a friend), please remember that Allah does not accept a sinful dua as you are not doing them any wrong by not agreeing to marry someone whome you don't want to.

But what do we do about it? How do brothers & sisters cope with this pressure & deal with their parents?

The conference by iPoet & Baba Ali will cover this issue as well as:

How to find your Dream Spouse the Halal Way

How to keep super patient with culture minded parents

How to avoid the fitna of Freemixing during the Summer on Facebook and Offline

AND......
Your Exclusive Q/A Session with Baba Ali - What Marriage Questions do YOU Really need Answered?

The conference is aking place Saturday 20th August, 4-6pm UK time for more info & to register please follow this link www.ipoetconference.com

ririncanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15487954476570412898noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6141429018182963792.post-43213173032923395512011-08-03T09:18:00.000-07:002011-08-05T23:01:14.304-07:00Ramadhaan Suhoor & Iftaar recipesThese are recipes by Sis Sunnie with great idea's for Suhoor, Iftaar & even Eid recipes. I will just give some more info on the Surah with a bit of background knowledge on it too iA from the translation of the meaning of the Quran by Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik as well as a detailed summary of the Surah.

Surah Al-Fathihah:

Period of Revelation:
It is one of the very earlier revelations. In fact. we learn from authentic traditions that it was the first complete Surah (chapters) revealed to the Prophet (pbuh)...

Prayer and Divine Guidance:

This Surah is known as ab'a Mathani (seven oft-repeated verses)

It is also called Umm-al-Kitab (mother of the book), foundation and essence of the Quran

Its recitation is mandatory in each Islamic prayer (Salah). It is recited at least seventeen times daily in the five obligatory prayers.

This prayer is taught by Allah (Almighty God) Himself to mankind, as a favour, to let them know the format of a Prayer which is acceptable to him.

This prayer is for all those who want to study His Message. It is placed at the very beginning to teach the reader that if he sincerely wants o benefit from Al-Quran, he should offer this prayer to the Rabb (Lord) of the Universe. Al Fatiha teaches that the best thing for a man is to pray for "guidance towards the Right Way" and to study Al-Quran with the mental attitude of a seeker of truth, and to recognise that the Rabb (Lord) of the Universe is the source of all knowledge. One should, therefore, begin the study of Al-Quran with a prayer to Allah for seeking His guidance.
It is important to know that the real relation between Al-Fatiha and Al-Quran is not that of an introduction to a book but that of a prayer and its answer. Al-Fatiha is the prayer from the devotee and the rest of Al-Quran is the answer form Allah. The devotee prays to Allah to show him the "right way" and Allah places the whole of Al-Quran before him in answer to his prayer, as if to say:
"This is the Guidance that you have asked for"

Taken from page 109

Read more: ♥-i hijabi-♥: The translation of the meaning of the Quran I read http://ihijabi.blogspot.com/2010/08/translation-of-meaning-of-quran-i-read.html#ixzz1Tv8t9dOl

Surah Al-Baqara:

Period of Revelation:

Though it is a Madani Surah (revealed at Madinah), it follows a normally Makki Surah (revealed at Makkah) Al-Fatiha, which ended with the prayer, "Guide us to the Right Way." This Surah begins with the answer to that prayer, "This is the guidance that you have asked for." The greater part of Al-Baqara was revealed during the first two years of the Prophet's life at Madinah.

Major Issues, Divine Laws & Guidance:

Claim of the Quran: "This is the Book which contains no doubt."

Creation of Adam, man's nature and his destiny.

The Children of Israel and the People of the Book (Jews & Christians).

Israelites' sin of worshipping the statue of a calf.

Punishment of Israelites violation of Sabbath.

Nature of Jews' belief

Allah orders not to prevent the people from coming to the Masajid.

Abraham (Ibraheem), Ishmael (Isma'il) and their building of the Ka'bah.

Change of the Qibla (direction in prayers) towards Ka'bah in Makkah.

Allah orders not to profess any faith blindly.

The moon is created to determine the time periods i.e. months & years.

Hypocrisy vs. True faith.

Ayat-ul-Kursyyi (Verse of the Throne of Allah).

Allah orders the belivers to enter into Islam completely.

Punishment of a murtad (a Muslim who becomes a non-Muslim).

It is unlawful to marry a mushrik (who worship someone else besides Allah).

Victory is not by numbers but by Allah's help.

Confrontation of Ibraheem & Namrud (the king of his time).

What makes charity worthless.

Taking usury is like declaring a war against Allah and His Rasool.

All business dealings relating to deferred payments must be in writing.

Retaliation against oppression.

Non compulsion in religion.

Divine Laws ar promulgated relating to the following categories:

Food

Fasting

Self-Defense

Charity

Retribution

Bribery

Evidence

Drinking

Wills

Jihad

Pilgrimage

Bloodwit

Gambling Menstruation

Alimony

Usury

Loans

MArriage

Oaths

Nursing

Buying on Credit

Pledge/Mortgage

Orphans

Divorce

Widows

Debts

Believers supplicaion to Allah.

Guidance is also provided concerning social, cultural economic, political and legal issues through addressing the Jews who were acquainted with the Unity of Allah, Prophethood, Revelation, the Hereafter and Angels. The Jews professed to believe in the law which was revealed by Allah to their Prophet Moses (pbuh). In principle, their religion was the same (Islam) that was being taught by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Although they were originally Muslims, they had swerved from the real Islam and made innovations and alterations to their religion. As a result, they had fallen victims to hair splitting and sectarianism, so much so that they had even given up their original name "Muslim" and adopted the name "Jew" instead, and made religion a monopoly of the children of Israel. This was Jews religios condition when the Prophet went to Madinah and invited them to the True Religion. More that one third of this Surah (Chapter) addresses the Children of Israel. A critical review of their history, moral degeneration and religious perversions has been made, to draw clear lines of demarcation between the essentials and the non-essentials of the True Religion. The Jews are warned not to mix up the Truth with Falsehood.

During this period, a new type of Muslims called "Munafiqun" (hypocrites), had emerged. There were some who had entered the fold of Islam merely to harm it from within. There were others who were surrounded by Muslims, and become "Muslims" to safeguard their worldly interests. They, therefore, continued to have relations with the unbelievers so that if they became successful, their interests would remail secure. Allah has therefore, briefly pointed out the characteristics of the hypocrites in this Surah. Later on when their mischevious deeds became manifest, detailed instructions were given in Surah At-Tauba.

In brief, this Surah is an invitation towards the Divine Guidance. All stories, examples and incidents mentioned in this Surah revolve around this central theme. This Surah particularly addresses the Jews and cites many incidents from their history to admonish and advise then that accepting the Guidance revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is in their best interest. They should, therefore, be the first to accept it, because this Message is basically the same as was revealed to the Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him.

Surah A-le-Imran:

Period of Revelation:

This Surah, revealed at Madinah, consists of three discourses. The first discourse (vv. 1-32 and vv. 64-120) appears to have been revealed soon after the battle of Badr. The second discourse (vv. 33-63) was revealed in 9 A.H. when the deputation from the Christians of Najran visited the Prophet. The third discourse (vv. 121-200) was revealed after the Battle of Uhud.

Major Issues, Divine Laws & Guidance

Allah's testimony about Himself.

Decisive vs. Allegorical verses of the Quran.

The True religion in the sight of Allah is only Islam.

The only religion acceptable to Allah is Islam.

Live Islam and die as a Muslim in order to get salvation.

Followers of Isa (Jesus) were Muslims.

Birth of Maryam (Mary, Yahya (John) and Isa (Jesus) Peace be upon them.

'Mubahla' (calling for Allah's decision if the birth of Jesus is disputed). Similarly, in this Surah, the Christians are admonished to give up their erroneous beliefs and accept the guidance of the Quran. At the same time, the Muslims are instructed to nourish the virtues that may enable them to carry out their obligatin of spreading the divine guidance.

The believers had met with all sorts of trials and hardships about which they were forewarned in Surah Al-Baqara. Even though they had come out victorious in the Battle of Badr, they were not out of danger yet. Their victory had aroused the enmity of all those powers in Arabia which were opposed to the Islamic movement. Threatening events had begun to appear on all sides and the Muslims were in a perpetual state of fear and anxiety. This state of emergency was also adversely affecting its economy which had already been badly disturbed by the influx of Muslim refugees from other places.

The Jewish clans, who lived in the suburbs of Madinah, started discarding the treaties of alliance which they had made with the Prophet at his arrival from Makkah. They had discarded the treaties to the extent that during the Battle of Badr, these "People of the Book" sided with the pagan Quraish, in spite of the fact that their fundamental Articles of Faith- such as Oneness of Allah, Prophethood and life after death- were the same as those of the Muslims. After the Battle of Badr, they openly began to approach various Arab clans against the Muslims. The magnitude of the peril may be judged from the fact that even the life of the Prophet himself was always in danger. His Companions used to sleep in their armor and keep watch at night to guard against any sudden attack. Whenever the Prophet happened to be out of sight, even for a short while, they would at once set out in search of him.

Jews even approached the Quraish and challenged their ego to avenge the defeat that they had suffered at Badr and promised to help them from within. As a result, the Quraish marched against Madinah with an army of three thousand warriors and a battle took place at the foot of mount Uhud. The Prophet marched out of Madinah with one thousand men to fight the enemy. On their way to the battlefield, three hundred hypocrites deserted the army and returned to Madinah to discourage the believers. A small band of hypocrites, however, remained among the seven hundred who accompanied the Prophet. They played their part and did their best to create mischief and chaos in the ranks of the believers during the battle. This was the first clear indication of the fact that within the fold of Muslim community there was quite a large number of saboteurs who were always ready to conspire with the external enemies to harm their own brethren.

These devices of the hypocrites, played a major role in the setback at Uhud, even though the weaknesses of the Muslims also contributed to it. The Muslims were a new community, formed on a anew ideology and had not as yet gotten thorough moral training. Naturally, in this second hard test of their physical and moral strength, some weaknesses came to surface. That is why a detailed critical review of the Battle of Uhud is made in this Surah wchish was needed to warn the Muslims of their shortcomings and to issue instructions for their reform.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aplogies is there are any typo's in the above info (I had to copy it from the book by hand).

So Quran Club people answer the questions below and get involved in the discussion:

How has your Quran recitations been going?

What method have you been using (reading a couple of pages after salaah or specific time to read a certain amount or read an entire Juz in one sitting etc)?

How much have you managed to read?

Have you found it easier to read Quran this year?

What advice would you give to people having trouble keeping up with reading enough Quran?

Please write the translation (in English) of a verse you have read in the last 3 days Jsut open the Quran to any page in the first 3 Juz and randomly select a verse or 2. On the contrary, there are many forms of worship that a woman can do while menstruating aside from what is legally prohibited.
Allah says in the Quran, “He who obeyeth Allah and His messenger, and feareth Allah, and keepeth duty (unto Him): such indeed are the victorious.” [Nur: 52]
Allah Most High has commanded menstruating women and women in a state of lochia (post-natal bleeding) to refrain from the ritual prayer and ritual fasting. Thus, if a menstruating woman fulfills this command with the intention to submit to Allah’s order, she is actually worshipping Allah the entire time that she refrains from the ritual prayer and ritual fasting. As one of my teachers in Damascus said, “Her praying while pure is worship (ibada) and her refraining from prayer while menstruating is worship. All of it is worship”
Therefore, there’s nothing dreadful or awful about menstruation or lochia (post-natal bleeding), rather it is a person’s attitude towards it.

Suggested Acts of Worship During Menstruation in Ramadan
These suggestions are not specific to the last ten nights of Ramadan but to the month in general. Furthermore, they also apply to women in a state of lochia (post-natal bleeding).

1. Listen to the Quran
“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong).” [Baqara: 185]
She should listen to the Quran as much as possible, while simultaneously pondering about its deep meanings. She should cry when she hears about the eternal punishment, hoping that Allah will save her from its blazing flames. She should feel happiness and joy when hearing about the bounties of Paradise and desire that Allah will make her of those that will be honored to experience its bliss. If she cannot cry, then she should force herself to cry, allowing her entire soul to express its complete pleasure of being from those who follow the truth and are rightly guided.
In the Hanafi madhhab, it is prohibited to actually touch the mushaf (bound Arabic Quran), including its insides, its page margins and its cover (if it is attached to the mushaf). It is also prohibited to recite the Quran, which means to move one’s lips while producing sound. [ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar] It is sinful to touch a translation or a tafsir of the Quran while menstruating.
It is permissible to read the Arabic script or its translation with her eyes, such as on a computer screen or other electronic devices. [ibn Abidin, Manhal al-Waridin] She can also read the Quran in her heart.

2. Make Much Remembrance (Dhikr) of Allah
“…and men who remember Allah much and women who remember - Allah hath prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward.” [The Confederates: 35]
She should use every free moment to exalt the Lord of the Worlds. There are many related dhikrs that a woman can recite. She should buy a supplication (dua) book and recite its invocations as it will strengthen her relationship with her Lord and draw her nearer to Him with each word uttered.
If the invocations include Quranic verses that contain the meanings of supplication, praise, remembrance, or protection, it is permissible to say these during a state of menstruation upon the condition that it is read with this intention. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah; Tahtawi, Hashiyyat al-Tahtawi] Some examples are reading Surat al-Ikhlas, Surat al-Falaq, Surat al-Nas, Surat al-Fatiha, and Ayat al-Kursi with the intention of supplication, not reciting the Quran.
In the Hanafi madhhab, it is an overall recommendation that a menstruating woman make ablution (wudu) for each prayer time, sit in her usual place of worship, and make dhikr for the time it takes for her to normally pray so that she does not lose her habit of worship while in this state. [ibn Abidin, Manhal al-Waridin]

3. Send Blessings on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace)
Allah says in the Quran, “Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.” [The Confederates: 56]
She seeks the tremendous benefit of sending blessings and praise (salawat) upon the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) because it is an act that increases her love for him (Allah bless him and give him peace). She reflects upon his nature and expresses her gratitude to Allah for sending mankind such a wonderful example of mercy and piety. She longs to meet him and to drink from his pond (hawd) on the Day of Judgment. She intends to follow him and emulate his character (Allah bless him and give him peace).

4. Give Generously In Charity
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “The best charity is that given in Ramadan.” [al-Tirmidhi]
She should reach into her pocket and give whatever she can without hesitation. She longs to give to those in need, and she thanks Allah for bestowing upon her the financial ability to help others. She refrains from praising herself for the charity she offers but rather, she donates her wealth out of pure submission to the Divine.

5. Be Kind to Others, Including Spouses & Family Members
The Companion Salman al-Farasi related that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said about Ramadan in a sermon given on the last day of Sha’ban, “…It is a month of patience and the reward of patience is Paradise…” [Sahih ibn Khuzayma; Sayuti, al-Jami’ al-Kabir; Bayhaqi, Shu`ab al-Iman]
She uses this time to rebuild and mend any broken relationships. She showers her loved ones with words and acts of gentleness, compassion, consideration, patience, and love. She doesn’t use her menstruation as an ‘excuse’ to wrong others and resort to bad temper. She forgives those that have mistreated or offended her. She prays that Allah will forgive her if she wronged others. She keeps the company of the righteous and those who will increase her in piety.

6. Make Dua for the Ummah
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said about Ramadan, “Verily, Allah frees people (from the Hellfire) in every day and every night and for each Muslim among them is a supplication which will be answered.” [Ahmad]
She supplicates for the entire ummah—praying for their forgiveness, their well-being, and Allah’s mercy upon them. She can say a dua related by the scholar al-Khurkhi:
Allahumma Aslih Ummat Muhammad. Allahumma Farrij ‘an Ummat Muhammad. Allahumma Irham Ummat Muhammad
“O Allah, improve the community of Muhammad. O Allah, relieve the community of Muhammad. O Allah, have mercy on the community of Muhammad.”
[al-Asbahani, Riyada al-Abdan]

7. Make Much Repentance
The Companion Salman al-Farasi related that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said about Ramadan in a sermon given on the last day of Sha’ban, “…It is a month (in which) the first of it is mercy, and the middle of it is forgiveness, and the last of it is pardon from the Fire…” [Sahih ibn Khuzayma; Sayuti, al-Jami’ al-Kabir; Bayhaqi, Shi’b al-Iman]
She asks Allah to pardon her, cover her sins, and save her from the Hell-fire. She begs for forgiveness and realizes her absolute neediness to His mercy. She wakes up in the middle of the night, even though she is menstruating, and repents in a time when Allah promises to forgive.

8. Feed Fasting People
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) also said in the aforementioned sermon, “…Whoever feeds a fasting person in (the month of Ramadan), for him is the forgiveness of his sins and freeing his neck from the Fire…” [Sahih ibn Khuzayma; Sayuti, al-Jami’ al-Kabir; Bayhaqi, Shi’b al-Iman]
She hosts her relatives, friends or community members for iftar. She tries to accommodate her guests in the best manner possible but avoids excessiveness. She realizes that feeding fasting people is an act of worship and it is not an opportunity to seek compliments for her cooking and hospitality.

9. Show Allah Goodness
The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah.” [Tabarani]
She utilizes her free time to help and assist others with their needs. She is a means for them to achieve benefit in this great month. She wakes her family up to perform worship in the night and encourages them to do extra works of obedience. She sacrifices her own time to volunteer at her Islamic community center or local charities. She helps babysit a mother’s child so that the mother can attend tarawih. She does whatever she can to aid the believers in completing the good with excellence.
She avoids looking at and listening to what is unlawful. Instead, she directs her eyes, ears, and spirit to that which is advantageous for her Hereafter. She attends classes, webinars, and lectures given by recognized scholars in an effort to surround herself with people of sound religion. She seeks beneficial knowledge and aims to implement what she’s learned in her own life. She actively pursues furthering her understanding of Islam and affirms her faith every time the wisdom of this great religion touches her heart.

10. Carry Out Any Righteous Deed
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained” [Bukhari, Muslim]
She realizes that now is the perfect time to carry out any act of good. The devils are chained and there is nothing to hold her back from committing herself to absolute slavehood to her Lord.

Barak Allah fikum
Naielah Ackbaraliririncanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15487954476570412898noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6141429018182963792.post-40815467097960445232011-08-01T16:24:00.000-07:002011-08-05T23:01:14.305-07:00Shalwar Kameez Images(1)<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; Yaaay! Firstly I'd like to wish all my readers Ramadhaan Mubarak and I pray that you are all in the best of health and increased imaan. May Allah swt bless you and your families abundantly keep you in good health and high spirits! Ameen.

I love this time of year, full of family time, the devils have been chained and there is an overall atmosphere of worship, spirituality & kindness in the air. So this year one of my biggest goals is to read the entire Quran with the English translations so that I understand it as well. I have planned a Ramadhaan Quran Club on the iHijabi facebook page so that I can stay motivated and inshaAllah share this experience with those taking part. In previous years I remember sitting there in the afternoon for an hour or so just trying to finish a Juz (chapter) even if I got tired or bored, so this year I'll be reading a few pages after every salaah, I've been doing it since Maghrib salaah yesterday and it's going quite well alhamdulillah, I'm going to try and read about a Juz and a half each day (from one Maghrib to another) which should give me a 10 day leeway for if and when I'm 'not fasting' or if I don't read enough in a certain day (iftaar invites etc) Will you be trying to complete the Quran this Ramadhaan? If you're interested in the iHijabi Ramadhaan Quran club just go onto the facebook page on Wednesdays where we will be having a short dicussion on how much we've accomplished in the week and how it's all going, inshaAllah we'll also be trying to give some practical tips to anyone who is finding it difficult to keep up and just encourage each other in general to stay motivated (=

My other aims this Ramadhaan is to reduce talking and getting angry =S I will keep talking to a minimum inshaAllah and try to control my temper by doing dhikr when I feel like I'm getting worked up over something I'm hoping this will turn into a habit that sticks around even after Ramadhaan. What are your goals this Ramadhaan? Check out the facebook page for what the goals of some of our readers are and maybe you'll be inspired.

This Ramadhaan started without my father as he had to go to hospital on Saturday again, it was sad not to see him at his seat in the kitchen during suhoor but he was still with us by telling my mum to force us to eat rice with milk and mango (bengali tradition) lol I could just imagine him telling my mum "Remember to tell them!! How will they cope with such long days?" Yes I miss my dad but he should be home soon inshaAllah. Lol just remembered my mum coming back from the hospital in the afternoon and telling me that my dad said he feels bad because he can't go and buy as kebabs and stuff for iftaar xD

Anyway so yesterday I was thinking of Ramadhaan decorations to get the house into the Ramadhaan mood and get my little brothers excited about Ramadhaan. You know how kids get excited during christmas because of all the decorations and lights, well it's hard to grow up in a Western country trying not to get excited because you know you don't celebrate it. You know Eid is your celebration but our family is a bit rubbish at doing things for kids during Ramadhaan & Eid (we get new clothes and yummy food don't get me wrong) but this year I wanted to get the kids involved and show that Ramadhaan & Eid are good & joyous occasions for them too (= Anyway we decided to make a banner and decorate my little brother's window. Here are some pics (=

My little sister & brother cut out the letter's and coloured them in (took them all day!) they only got so far as putting up Ramadan when a lady who was walking past knocked on the door to say Salaam and Ramadan Kareem (= she said she really liked the decorations and was happy to see a Muslim family getting excited for Ramadhaan (she was Muslim btw) put a smile on my face =D alhamdulillah.

Ok I know it's a bit crap but I didn't have time to go out and buy things to use to make a banner so I improvised. I cut out the letters from old cereal boxes, covered them in tin foil then punched two holes on either side of each letter & thread through some gardening plastic thread thing =D Job done! When UI started doing this and getting excited my brothers & sisters kept asking what I'm doing and when I said making decorations they couldn't figure out why lol, boring kids! Thanks to sister Zeena Sharef for the inspiration for this banner =)

InshaAllah I'll try and get or make some proper decorations for Eid (with tha fairy lights and all!)

Anyhoo I hope you guys have a lovely Ramadhan inshaAllah! This hijab is your everyday black hijab with a little bit of bling, I'm a sucker for all things black so I really liked this hijab. It is a sheer hijab so just for demo pruposes I wore it with another scarf underneath, you wont need to but you will need to wear an underscarf and when you wrap it round it shouldn't be see through.

Next is the green & blue scarf my sister is wearing, this is a pashmina type scarf and is very easy to work with & style, it creates nice folds and has a few different colour stitches at the bottom (don't know if you can see), It's a nice scarf in perfect cool summer colours.

And then as you see in picture 2 is the blue crystal headband. This is the headband that you'd wear in your hair as well, it's nice but not something I would wear, the crystals make the hijab stick up on the sides a bit to, so not really for me unfortunately.

Lastly in this section is the blue flower hijab pin with mini chain. I think this is realllly cute and I absolutely love the little flowers. Very pretty!

Ok now on to the orange hijab, this hijab is very stringy (sorry can't find the word =S) you will have to wear it with another hijab as I think it's quite see through and has gaps in the hijab. The colour is very nice and I've paired it with a white pashmina to do a bandanna earring style for a slightly Spanish look (=

And then there is a white tube underscarf with diamontes and embroidery. I don't wear tube underscarves or underscarves with patterns but this underscarf is very good quality so if you need one of these do check out SSHG.

Moving on to the red hijab.
